Choose blueberries, apricots, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, mangoes, pumpkin, kale, cantaloupe, spinach and papaya.

Reduce Strain

    Strain can also cause vision to deteriorate, especially if your eyes are never given an opportunity to truly rest. Many people strain their eyes when reading, especially in dim areas, when watching television or when working on the computer for hours.

    Consider improving the light source for your reading. Dim light forces your eyes to strain; therefore, adding a light, even if it's a small book light, can provide relief.

    If you spend all day working at a computer, give your eyes a break every couple of hours. A small walk around the workspace will get you away from the screen and will help dramatically.

Eye Exercises

    Just as the muscles throughout your body need exercise, so do your eyes. Eye exercises can strengthen your eye muscles, improve your vision naturally and prevent deteriorating vision in the future.

    Using only your eyes--holding your head still--look up for a second, then down for a second. Close your eyes and allow them to relax. Repeat this exercise a few times a day to strengthen eye muscles and improve vision.

    Eat a balanced diet that contains fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and yogurt. Foods that contain whole grains leave you feeling fuller longer, which sustains your energy levels.

How to Build a Royal Rife Machine

The Royal Rife machine is an invention by American scientist Royal Rife. This machine is famous in natural health circles for its supposed ability to use sound frequencies to treat and reportedly cure almost any known disease or health condition. Rife believed that nearly all adverse health conditions are caused by viruses, and that these viruses can be destroyed by certain frequencies of sound, depending on the condition being treated. As of November 2010, a Rife machine can cost between $350 and $2,700. However, you can build one on your own for a fraction of the cost.


Put Together the Rife Machine


    Drill a 1/8-inch hole in the center of each of the two brass plates.


    Cut the speaker wire into two pieces of 12 feet each.


    Strip the casing from the two pieces of speaker wire using the wire stripper. Leave 1/2-inch of bare wire at the end of each piece of wire.


    Put one end of one of the bared wires into one of the crimp ring connectors, making sure it fits snugly and securely.


    Secure the crimp ring connector to one of the drilled brass plates using one of the pop rivets.


    Separate the two bared strands at the end of the speaker wire. Solder the first strand to the tip of the amplifier jack, then solder the second strand to the jack itself.


    Repeat steps two through six with the second 12 foot strand of wire.

Activate the Rife Frequency Software Kit


    Plug the amplifier into the associated jack.


    Open up the software kit and remove the stereo output line that comes with it. Plug one end of this line into the headphone port on your computer. Plug the other end of the line into the auxiliary output port on the amplifier.


    Attach one end of the power adapter into the amplifier and plug the other end into a wall outlet.


    Install the Rife software kit on your Windows-based computer (the software will not work with a Mac).

Use the Rife Machine


    Place one brass plate under one of your feet. Place the other brass plate on any nearby flat non-metal surface and put the palm of your hand on top of the plate.


    Run the Rife software on your computer.


    Turn up the volume on your computer until you can feel a slight tingling in the foot and hand that are on the brass plates.


    Use the software to set the sound frequency to one that will address whatever health condition you're treating with the Rife machine. The software kit comes with a list of frequencies for hundreds of health conditions.


    Sit still until the frequency plays all the way through to the end, then rest for a few minutes before getting up. Repeat the treatment process daily until you feel better.

How to Massage Swollen Legs Following Surgery

Following surgery, the doctor usually tells the patient to get up and walk as soon as possible. For some, this is no problem. When the surgery is in the legs, however, there can be complications, not the least of which are swelling, stiffness, soreness and aches. Massage is a good way to help restore mobility to the lower extremities; it is also a good way to reduce swelling and improve the skin's moisture levels. But you should make sure the stitches are not irritated.


Prepare for the Massage


    Make sure you have the doctor's permission to perform massage on the legs. There may be special considerations to avoid any complications, such as blood clots or cancerous tissues present within the leg. Massage, even gentle massage, could break off a blood clot or cancerous cell and cause a life-threatening embolism or spread of the cancer. When either of these are present, massage should never be performed except by a trained, licensed massage therapist and only under a doctor's supervision. If the doctor says massage is okay, proceed.


    Use pillows to elevate the legs above the heart. Elevating the legs helps facilitate the drainage of excess fluid that may have built up in the legs, which if left unchecked can turn into a condition known as edema. Since massage helps move fluid through the body, elevating the legs makes the work of the person giving the massage that much easier.


    Apply a light coat of vitamin E oil to the legs and feet. This not only allows the hands to glide easily across the skin of the legs, it helps nourish and moisturize the skin.

Perform a Circulatory Massage


    Expose the leg and, starting at the knee, lightly rub the hands towards the hips. Use sweeping strokes, but be careful not to use too much pressure. After several strokes on the top of the leg, move your hands along the sides of the leg and repeat the strokes. If you can, run your hands along the backs of the legs.
    After completing the upper leg, repeat the strokes on the lower legs, always working upwards, towards the heart.


    Elevate the limbs individually, and repeat the massage strokes. The elevation lets gravity do some of the work for you, but you still need to use your hands to ensure that any excess fluid is gently moved out of the leg. Again, always work towards the heart.


    If the swelling persists, you may have to perform a very light lymphatic-drainage massage. For this, you need a very light touch, literally the weight of a nickel. Use small, slow, circular movements starting just above the knee and moving upwards, towards the hips. This opens up the lymphatic capillaries, allowing the excess fluid to enter and be removed easily.

Dry the wart and repeat the process for up to two months until the wart is healed.


    Break open a vitamin A capsule (25,000 IU) and rub some of the liquid onto the wart. Apply this once a day until the wart heals. This remedy is strictly for external use only: ingesting large doses of Vitamin A is toxic.


    Crush a vitamin C supplement tablet with the back of a spoon. Moisten it with a few drops of water, to form a paste. Apply this mixture directly onto the wart. Cover the area with a bandage and leave this on for at least 24 hours. The high acidic content of the vitamin C mixture is believed to kill the papilloma virus that causes the infection.


    Treat genital warts using tea tree oil. Dampen a cotton ball with some of this essential oil and apply it directly to the genital wart, dabbing gently. Do this once every day for up to 10 days. The oil may cause a mild tingling sensation.


    Rub the inner side of a banana peel onto your wart until the peel turns dark in color. Slice a section of banana peel that is large enough to cover the area of the wart infection. Place it over the wart with the inner side of the peel against your skin. Cover it with a bandage and leave it in place for at least 5 days.

    Mix together a little bit of honey, lemon and a pinch of turmeric. Apply this mixture to the skin regularly. This combination can be very effective if used properly and regularly.


    Add sandalwood paste to water and apply it to your skin where the blemishes are. Sandalwood is good for keeping your skin clear and free of acne or blemishes. Sandalwood also soothes a painful pimple or boil on the skin.


    Put three strawberries in a bowl and smash them with a fork. Pour enough vinegar in the bowl to make a paste with the strawberries. Spread this strawberry and vinegar paste onto the problem area of your skin and keep it on overnight. Use a towel in between your face and your pillow to protect your linens. Wash the paste off in the morning.

    Use this paste every night. Make it a habit to use it even after the blemishes are gone, to keep the blemishes away and keep your skin clear.

The ability of the blood to clot is an important aspect of the body's ability to heal itself. But sometimes blood clots occur inside the body.     When a blood clot forms in the leg, the leg begins to swell. The first thing you probably will notice is that one leg is larger than the other, due to water retention in the area. Swelling can be caused by other issues, however, and is not a definite sign of a clot.

Increased Pain

    Cut three pieces of natural un-dyed wool or white flannel cotton in a size to cover the affected area. Cut a piece of plastic wrap the same size as the pieces of cloth.


    Soak the wool or cotton with pure castor oil. Make sure each piece of wool or cotton is thoroughly saturated but not dripping with oil. Use only natural un-dyed wool or flannel cotton. Castor oil can cause some dyes to fade, which may stain your skin.


    Place the layers of cloth that is saturated with castor oil on the affected sinus area. Cover the cloth with the piece of plastic wrap. Place a hot water bottle over the cloth. The plastic wrap will prevent the oil from soiling the hot water bottle. If you do not have a hot water bottle, you may use a small electric heating pad over the plastic covered cloth.


    Relax and leave the castor oil pack on the affected area for up to 30 minutes. Breathe normally and allow the castor oil to permeate your skin over the inflamed sinus area.

    Sit up in a cross legged position. Inhale slowly to the count of three and exhale slowly to the count of six. Increase the breath counts. Inhale to the count of four and exhale to the count of seven. Inhale to the count of five and exhale to the count of eight.Repeat two to four sets.


    Inhale and exhale naturally through the nostrils for a minute to center and ground yourself. Inhale through your nose to the count of three and then open your mouth and exhale forcefully by opening your mouth and letting out your breath so it forms the word: "Hahhhhhhhh" (make sure you draw out the breath when you open your mouth). Repeat six to eight times.


    Lie back on the mat and close your eyes. Visualize your breath as a warm, bright light flowing your lungs as you inhale deeply to the count of three. As you exhale to the count of three, visualize the stale air releasing from your lung as puffs of grey smoke. Concentrate on your lungs and feeling positive energy flowing through your lung and heart center filling your body with fresh pure air. Imagine toxins leaving your body as you lie on the mat as you become aware of your natural breath. Place your hands on your chest and feel the natural rise and fall of your chest as you breathe. Stay in this reclined pose for at least one minute.


    Sit up and sit cross-legged on mat. Inhale to the count of three as you raise your hands over your head and exhale to the count of three as you release your hands to your side. Bring your hands to heart center and end your breathwork practice by saying: Namaste.

What Is Chelation?

Chelation is a medical treatment for the treatment of hardening of the arteries. Holistic practitioners actually use heavy metal poisoning in the process. Chelation is also being used to treat heart disease, cerebrovascular disease and kidney disease, though the scientific evidence supporting its efficacy in the treatment of other diseases is not as strong as that which supports its use in treating atherosclerotic disease.


    Chelation therapy traces back to the 1950s when it was developed to treat heavy metal poisoning. Chelation is not just used to treat accidental ingestion of metals, but also the condition of thalasemia which is buildup of iron overload due to repeated blood transfusions.

Infusion Therapy

    Chelation therapy is practiced most often through infusion into a vein. This is preferable to oral ingestion of EDTA because the stomach does not absorb it as readily. The animo acid is usually excreted by the kidneys in the form of urine and up to 95 percent is usually removed from the body within the first 24 hours.

Time Frame

    The standard time frame for chelation therapy is around three hours. Subjects typically begin with weekly treatments for anywhere from two to three weeks. Following this initial period, the chelation infusions are cut down to every few months. This is done to ensure that the benefits of the treatment remain in place. In addition to the venous infusion, high dose vitamins are taken orally.

Side Effects

    Side effects of chelation are rare but not unknown. Some side effects that have been reported include phlebitis at the site of venous infusion. Others may experience a temporary drop in blood pressure or lowered levels of blood calcium. More serious potential side effects include kidney damage, heart rhythm abnormalities and bone marrow suppression.

The Facts

    Sunlight is the most important source of vitamin D in the body. All energy on earth derives from the sun. The sun or an artificial broad spectrum light source makes plants grow and thrive.     Infrared Light -- There are three types of infrared light: near, far and far-far. Near is the region closest in wavelength that is detectable by the human eye; the others are progressively further from visibility.

    Infrared Sauna -- These saunas use infrared heaters which emit infrared radiant heat. This heat is absorbed directly into the body. It differs from a traditional sauna, wherein a heat source (flame or heaters) are used to warm the air and stones in a room, which makes the temperature rise, thus making body temperature rise.

    Deep penetrating light therapy (DPLT) -- Using light emitting diodes, this treatment is used in wound healing, pain reduction, severe acne and in reducing wrinkles. Studies show that skin cell growth occurs at a rate 150-200 percent faster when they are exposed to LED light wavelengths.


    Light therapy is believed to alter circadian rhythms, thereby suppressing the body's release of melatonin. This helps control the effects of seasonal affective disorder. It may also be of value against other psychiatric problems, such as bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and postpartum depression.

    Some studies have shown that light therapy activates the body's production of hormones, including testosterone and estradiol, follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. This could have value in a range of maladies, including impotence and infertility.

    Studies have shown that phototherapy may be of value against tremors in Parkinson's patients.

    Light therapy is commonly used in hospitals as a treatment for neonatal jaundice.
