Why Lasers?

    First off, look for the symptoms: Pain in your jaw, neck, teeth and even your face. Jaw stiffness in the morning, jaw locks or is hard to move at times, painful click noise when you open or close your mouth, upper and lower teeth don't align properly, causing tooth pain. You may also notice you grind your teeth at night, or maybe enough throughout the day. These are the common sides that you may have TMJ.

    There isn't much you can do medically about the problem. You can check with your local dentist or health care provider and ask to be fitted for a "Mouth Guard" which will prevent grinding your teeth at night.     There are exercises you can do to help prevent, and deal with pain. You usually do these exercises for about 5-10 minutes daily. Sorry, but chewing, and talking don't count for exercise.

    For clicking in the jaw, close your mouth allowing your tongue to touch your palate. With your mouth closed, move your tongue back. Now slowly open our mouth until your tongue moves away. Let your mouth be open till a count of ten. This is repeated twice.

    If your jaws tend to shift sideways, practice slowly open and close our mouth, careful to close it properly without shifting to the side. Repeat five times.

    For simply easing tension, stretching exercises can be done by opening your mouth downward and closing it slowly works.

How to Extract Bee Venom

Because the amount of venom a honeybee produces is infinitesimal and very difficult to collect in large quantities, an electronic device for extracting it, known as a bee venom collector, is used. It is the easiest way to generate enough stings for a viable amount of venom per collecting session. The collector consists of a housing with controls on one side and a glass plate on the other. The plate is covered with a row of electrified wires. When a bee comes into contact with the wires, an electrical impulse triggers a sting. The venom from the sting then falls onto the glass plate. Once it has dried, it can be collected.

Instructions

Extracting Bee Venom

    Insert the glass plate directly below the stretch wires on the front side of the collector.

    Place the bee venom collector and the hive entrance with the glass plate and wires facing the hive.

    Turn the device on. Watch for the blinking green run light that indicates proper operation. Ensure that the device is pausing every 50 seconds for a 10-second interval.

    Make sure that the device turns off automatically after 40 minutes, which is the maximum amount of time for each collecting session. If the device does not shut off after 40 minutes, turn it off manually.

    Place the device in a shady area to allow the remaining bees to return to the hive. Leave the glass in place.

If you belong to the millions of people who suffer from some form of vertigo, dizziness or balance disorder related to problems in the inner ear, it is, unfortunately, unlikely that these symptoms will be explained or treated in a timely fashion. While you wait, you may wish to try to fix your symptoms. One of the simplest and lowest-risk remedies you can try is the Brandt-Daroff series of exercises.

What to Do

    Note what side your vertigo is on. Sit on the edge of your bed. Lean to the side your vertigo is on, until you are lying on your side, on the bed. If this causes vertigo, wait for it to pass. Slowly return to a seated position. If this causes vertigo, wait for it to pass. Repeat.

    Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and labyrinthitis are two of the most common of the ailments, which include the above symptoms, and no others (see link in References). In BBPV, otoliths (crystals lodged deep within the labyrinth of the inner ear), which are necessary for balance, become displaced by a virus or a physical trauma, such as a sudden motion or a blow to the head. This disorder can cause vertigo, dizzy spells, loss of balance, nausea and even falls. The vertigo is often one-sided, with a sensation of the head or even the body spinning clockwise or counterclockwise. In labyrinthitis, the inner ear is inflamed or irritated, causing similar symptoms.

Treatment's Worth

    While it will help you to understand the "shape" of your vertigo--when it happens--and maybe to reduce symptoms, the Brandt-Daroff series is not as effective as a more-complex related treatment--the Epley maneuver. This is because the Epley maneuver more specifically repositions your otoliths, closely following the twists and turns of the anatomy of your inner ear. However, the Epley maneuver should be prescribed by a doctor in case your vertigo is caused by an issue untreatable by guided shifts in position.

    Blue Cross of California states that there is no risk if you do the Brandt-Daroff series and recommends that if you are getting relief from this, you practice it up to 20 times a day (see link in References).

Skunk oil has many uses in old time alternative medicine. Skunk oil remedies were used by the Native Americans, who sold the oil to settlers. According to Charlotte Erichson-Brown in her book "Medicinal and Other Uses of North American Plants," skunk oil was used as a home remedy even into the 1920s in the United States.

What Is It?

    Skunk oil is not the foul-smelling spray used by skunks in defense. Rather, it is obtained from slowly heating the fat from a skunk. Basically, skunk oil is just rendered skunk fat. According to Elisabeth Janos in her book "Country Folk Medicine," people can't agree whether it has a foul odor or not. What is agreed upon is that the oil is thick like motor oil and that it feels like coal oil as it is applied to the skin.

External Uses

    Skunk oil has moisturizing properties and can be used to soften skin, even the tougher skin on the feet. Being a fat, it takes a long time to absorb into the skin but can form a protective barrier to prevent chapping and chafing from cold and wind. Its linament action feels as though it is penetrating the skin, making it good as a warming chest rub for cough and colds. The warming action is believed to help open and relax airways to help clear mucus, allowing you to breathe easier. According to Janos, people would apply skunk oil to strengthen muscle tone, and women would rub it in as a contraceptive.

Internal Uses

    Many people in forner days took skunk oil internally, similarly to castor oil. Just a spoon was believed to cure coughs, colds and croup. Janos mentions an instance in which a case of laryngitis was cured with just a spoon of skunk oil. This oil was also used as a remedy internally for broken bones that wouldn't mend properly and to treat symptoms of rheumatism.

    According to the Alberta Online Encyclopedia, the oil from the foul-smelling spray is used by the aboriginal people of the Boreal Forest to get rid of toothache and sore throat. Water was mixed with this oil before applying or gargling with it.

This condition is a result of nerve endings that trigger defecation becoming desensitized by the constipation itself or by using stimulant laxatives on a long-term basis. H. pylori, a bacteria found in the stomach, is a primary cause of ulcers. There are many natural treatments that can be used to deal with these conditions.

Herbal Treatments for Chronic Constipation

    Herbal laxatives fall into three categories. Bulking agents, as the name might indicate, bulk up stool making it easier to pass. Stimulant laxatives prompt the stool retaining muscles to relax and the stool expelling muscles to contract. Lastly, there are herbal laxatives which increase the flow of bile into the intestines. Bile contains the fatty substance cholesterol which lubricates the stool. Since many herbal treatments produce similar benefits, it is not necessary to take every treatment suggested. Experiment with the different types of laxatives to see which works best.

    Bulking agents: Kelp will bulk up stool as well as relieve stress on the blood vessels lining the rectum and anus. Eat 2 oz. in a single serving once a week.     Stimulant Laxatives: Use one of the following treatments in tablet form as directed on the label: Aloe bitters, buckthorn, cascara sagrada, frangula, or senna. They have the potential to draw too much fluid into the intestines, causing a depletion of electrolytes, which help maintain fluid balance in the body.

    Increase the amount of fiber in the diet but do so slowly to avoid gas and bloating. Whole foods are best such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to help soften stool. This is especially important if you are increasing your fiber intake. Think about reducing the amount of beef, dairy and wheat; they contain natural opiates that dull the nerves controlling the intestines.
