CoQ10 (Coenzyme Q10) is a very important part of the group of cells in the body that create energy and are known as mitochondria. The development of ATP is what CoQ10 is involved in. This is done by the CoQ10 reducing the resistance to blood flow. An average decrease in hypertension patients in both blood pressure categories are about 10 percent. This is due to CoQ10.

Best Form of CoQ10

    The best form of CoQ10 to ingest is the oil version that is found in soft gel containers. These capsules work best when ingested in conjunction with food products. CoQ10 enhanced with vitamin E increases its absorption properties. In addition, this form of CoQ10 will most likely stay in its active structure. CoQ10 is inactive and active in the blood system. If there are low levels of vitamin E in the body in the body, CoQ10 is transformed into its inactive structure. CoQ10 function is increased when there are high levels of vitamin E in the body. CoQ10 Dosage

    Oil is another good way to help cleanse and detox your colon. Oil lubricates your intestines, making it easier for stool to exit your body. Gaeddert recommends putting a tablespoon (or two) of olive or canola oil (or any other monounsaturated or polyunsaturated oil) on green salad. Drink water along with this.

    Psyllium husks are a beneficial supplement if your fiber intake through food is too low. A supplement such as Metamucil is another good way to take in extra fiber. Taking either psyllium husks or a supplement, along with a full glass of water, has about five grams of fiber per dose.

    Try prune juice while cleansing. Prune juice contains a compound that helps stimulate bowel movements. According to Gottlieb, drinking two to three 8-ounce glasses of a combination of prune juice and water should be adequate in stimulating disposal.

    Tea made with red alder leaves and bark can also help. Apply the tea to the area and also drink a couple of tablespoons.

Milk of magnesia

    Dabbing milk of magnesia on the hives can provide some itching relief. The milk of magnesia contains an alkaline solution to help remove the itching sensation.

Cayenne Pepper

    Taking cayenne pepper capsules can help speed the healing process. Vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc also help.

    Another useful remedy for eliminating warts is lemon peel. Before you go to bed, tape a piece of lemon peel to the wart. Repeat until the wart goes away. The white, fleshy part of the lemon peel contains oils with antiseptic properties. Continued application can help to soften and heal a wart.

    If you continue to be bothered with flat warts, consult your physician. You may require more conventional treatment. Discontinue use of any natural remedy if your skin becomes irritated.

    Place the nettle leaf, saw palmetto berry, chamomile, aloe, catnip and rosemary into a food processor or coffee grinder and grind into a fine powder. You may need to pulse the grinder, or move the herbs around a few times to get an even powder.


    Place a couple tablespoons of olive oil into a ramekin or small bowl. Add in the ground herbs.


    Microwave the mix for about 10 seconds, stir well, and microwave for an additional 5 seconds.


    Place a towel around your neck and shoulders, and secure with a clip.


    Use your fingertips to massage the oil blend into your scalp a bit at a time. Be sure to cover the entire scalp. Coating the hair is not necessary. (If you don't like oil on your fingers, you can wear plastic or latex gloves.)


    Once your scalp is covered, wrap a warm towel around your head, or at least put on a shower cap. Allow the oil to stay on for at least 15 to 20 minutes.


    Shampoo and condition your hair as usual, but be sure to wash with warm water and rinse with cool water. You may need to shampoo twice to remove all the oil from your hair. Be careful not to scrub your scalp much.


    Perform these steps at least twice a month. Once a week is better if you have severe loss, particularly due to DHT build-up. (DHT is the cause of hair loss in those with thyroid disorders, as well as aging men.)

Home Remedy for Itching Powder

Though several over-the-counter anti-itch remedies are widely available at your local drugstore, you might be looking for an easy solution to try at home. Baking soda and oatmeal might give you relief. In addition, aromatherapy might be an easy solution for you, too. It is important, however, to know when your symptoms are severe enough to call your doctor.


    To control itching at home, consider using baking soda. You could rub baking soda on the itch, but you might also find relief by putting one-half cup baking soda into a tub full of water. Soak in this remedy for about twenty minutes, once daily until the itch is relieved.

    You could also use baking soda to make an anti-itch paste. Mix a spoonful of baking soda with a small amount of water and dab it onto the affected area. Apply as needed.

    You might also find relief from oatmeal powder. You could use an over-the- counter oatmeal solution in a warm bath for relief. Such products normally use colloidal oatmeal and won't clog your drain. To make a similar product at home, use a blender or food processor and finely grind old-fashioned rolled oats. Add about a cup of the powdered solution to warm water. For extra relief, you could also add baking soda or even eucalyptus or peppermint essential oils.


    In addition to anti-itch powder, you could also try aromatherapy to ease your itch symptoms at home. Valerie Ann Worwood, author of "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy," suggests adding five drops of either eucalyptus or peppermint (or a combination of both) to one teaspoon of a base vegetable oil, such as olive, jojoba or grapeseed oil. Massage the solution onto the affected area as needed. Store the solution in a dark, glass bottle.


    Contact your doctor if you develop a rash while taking other medications. The "Doctors' Book of Home Remedies for Women" says that sometimes medications can cause allergic reactions that result in itchy rashes.

    Also, contact your doctor if, after using home remedies, your rash doesn't clear up after week, the itching is so painful that it keeps you up at night, you develop blisters, you have pus or swelling and/or is accompanied by a fever. Too much itching can cause affected areas to become infected. Look for yellow or white fluid, swelling and warmth in the affected area.

Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do. Aromatherapy and essential oils can change moods, however, and provide a positive influence when you're trying to stop smoking.     Pine essential oil mixed with thyme and ylang-ylang essential oils also can curb cravings. Mix 10 drops of each of these oils with a carrier oil such as jojoba oil, and inhale deeply.

Black Pepper

    Another aromatherapy option for smoking cessation is black pepper oil. This is a single note oil, and it is quite strong. Try a few drops on a tissue or cotton ball, and inhale as needed.

Relaxing Blend

    A relaxing blend of essential oils will ease the stress of quitting smoking for most people. Combine five drops of rosemary, five drops of lemon, three drops of peppermint, three drops of ylang-ylang and one drop of camphor. Diffuse these oils in a simmering pot.


    Try alternating these oil mixtures from day to day. Some essential oils probably will work better for you than others. Experiment to find the best mixture for your needs.

The manufacturers of OPC supplements claim this item helps people with heart disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, high blood pressure and much more. There is, however, a lack of sound evidence to back these claims.

OPC Sources

    OPC is not a single chemical, but a group of similar compounds. Food sources of OPC include red wine, cranberries, bilberries, tea (green and black) and parsley. OPC supplements are made from either grape seed extract or pine bark or a combination of both. The OPCs in pine bark, however, are not identical to the ones found in grape seed extract. It is difficult to study OPC supplements because the composition varies from brand to brand.


    OPC supplements receive much acclaim because of their antioxidant content. Antioxidants are compounds that protect cells from free radical damage. Free radicals are compounds released every time cells take up oxygen.

Grape Seed Extract Research

    There is limited medical evidence to back the marketing claims. According to the University of Maryland, a study involving healthy volunteers found that taking grape seed extract daily increased levels of antioxidants in their blood. There is, however, no further evidence to prove that this increase of antioxidants prevents cancer or other degenerative diseases such as heart disease.

    In the case of swelling that occurs after surgery or injury, grape seed extract does show some promise. One double-blind, placebo-controlled study found breast cancer patients after surgery experienced less swelling than those patients who took the placebo, the University of Maryland Medical Center reports.

    In treating high cholesterol, there is no evidence proving that grape seed extract is effective.

    The National Cancer Institute did another study and found grape seed extract did not reduce the hardening of breast tissue.

Pine Bark Extract Research

    The American Cancer Society states there is not enough data to support most of the health claims for any form of pine bark extract. There have been brief studies that examined how pine bark extract may treat asthma, menstrual pain, blood clots and high cholesterol. Further studies involving larger groups of people are necessary in order to reach any conclusions.

Dietary Supplements

    Consumers need to be aware of the difference between dietary supplements and prescription drugs. According to the Food and Drug Administration, a dietary supplement is a product taken by mouth that contains a dietary ingredient. These dietary ingredients include vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids and enzymes. Extracts are also considered dietary ingredients. By law, manufacturers must ensure the safety of their product. Any new or unknown dietary ingredient must be reported to the FDA. Prescription drugs must undergo rigorous testing in order to ensure safety and effectiveness. As long as they can ensure product safety, the makers of dietary supplements do not have to prove to the FDA that the claims made about their products are accurate.

    To perform a coffee enema you will need the following items:

    Any variety of caffeinated organic coffee, finely ground
    Clean, fresh water that is chlorine-free
    Stainless steel or glass pot
    Enema bag
    Old towel
    Lubricating jelly (optional)


    Combine two tablespoons of coffee with one quart of fresh water in a cooking pot. If the water you are using is chlorinated, boil it for about twenty minutes prior to mixing it with the coffee. Once the water and coffee are combined in a pot, boil for five minutes, then simmer for five more minutes. Using a strainer, remove the coffee grounds from the liquid. Allow the liquid to cool to room temperature and it is ready for use.


    Pour the coffee mixture into the enema bag. Be sure to allow the air within the bag to escape before clamping the bag shut. Hang the bag about two feet from the ground. If you choose to use a lubricating gel, now is the time to lubricate the anus and/or the tip of the enema bag. Lie on your side on top of an old towel. If you would prefer, you can lie on your back with your knees against your chest. With your body completely relaxed, slowly insert the tip of the enema bag into the anus. One the nozzle is in place, release the clamp on the enema bag, allowing the coffee to flow into the body. After half of the coffee from the bag is gone, close the clamp. With the enema still in place, rotate between lying on both sides and your back for about four minutes in each position. Hold your bowels for as long as you can, preferably about 12 minutes, and then use the toilet. You will then repeat the coffee enema process again, using the liquid remaining in the bag. Try to refrain from releasing the bowels a little longer the second time around, but do not exceed 12 minutes.

    Once the procedure is complete, thoroughly wash the enema bag with hot water and allow it to dry completely. Be sure to sterilize the enema tube prior to each use.

    Stretch. Every morning, take the time to stretch your body and warm up as soon as you wake up. Start with deep breathing with your arms stretched out in front of you. Inhale with your palms turned upward, then exhale with your palms turning downward. Do this a few times, filling your lungs completely and exhaling completely. Also stretch your arms by placing your arms, one at a time, straight across your chest while using the back of your other hand to press your arm against your chest while exhaling deeply. Do this for both arms. Finally, while laying on your back, stretch your hamstrings by bringing your knee to your chest, and stretch the front of your thighs by pulling your feet backward towards your back.


    Exercise. Get moderate exercise to keep your body in shape. Exercise by playing sports, running, walking, swimming, gardening, yard work, or any physical activity to work out your muscles. Body weight exercises like pushups, squats and crunches are good for an overall body workout.

Jala neti, or just "neti" is a nasal irrigation method. Performed properly, neti flushes toxins and loosens mucus from sinus passages. Jala neti instructors teach neti irrigation procedure. You can master the process at home with practice. It may take more than one time to feel comfortable using a neti pot, but you will become accustomed to the practice and enjoy its benefits.

    Prepare neti solution. According to the Himalayan Institute, neti solution consists of non-iodized sea or kosher salt and water. Add to your neti pot 1/2 tsp. kosher salt and 1 cup distilled warm water. Mix to completely dissolve salt. Hot water can damage your nasal linings. If the water is too cool, it will cause congestion.


    Practice holding your head correctly. As you bend over a sink, look into it. Turn your head so that your nostrils are aligned one above the other. Keep you forehead and chin even. If your forehead is too high, the solution will pour into your mouth.


    Place the spout of the neti pot into your upper nostril. Do not allow any solution into your nostril, yet. The Himalayan Institute teaches to seal the spout in place. Open your mouth. Lift the pot handle, allowing solution to pour slowly into your nostril and drain from your lower nostril.


    Empty the neti pot and turn your head to face into the sink. According to the Himalayan Institute, simultaneously exhale through both nostrils expelling water and mucus into a tissue. Repeat the entire process with a new solution. Pour solution into the opposite nostril with your head turned opposite of the first application.
